Frida Maria Fornander (born 4 July 1995) is a Swedish model and beauty pageant titleholder. She was crowned Miss Earth Sweden 2014, and competed in Miss Earth 2014.[1][2] Later, she also won Miss Universe Sweden 2017 and competed in Miss Universe 2017.

Prior to competing in Miss Earth, Fornander had already won the titles of Miss Teenager Sweden 2011 and Miss Teen Model Universe 2012.[3][4][5] Fornander has been working as an international model since 2011.

Eva Birgitta Andersson-Dubin (born 1961) is a Swedish physician. She is also the founder of the Dubin Breast Center at the Tisch Cancer Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City.[2] She is married to hedge fund billionaire Glenn Dubin. She worked as a model and won the Miss Sweden contest in 1980.

Born in Sweden, she earned a high school diploma from Östraboskolan (Östrabo school) where she graduated first in her class, concentrating in mathematics and physics. After graduating, she pursued a career in modeling and in 1980 was named Miss Sweden and placed fourth runner up in the Miss Universe contest. She attended Karolinska Institutet in Stockholm for three and a half years and then transferred to UCLA's School of Medicine where she earned her MD in 1989.[1] She then completed her residency in internal medicine at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York in 1990.[1]

Gerard W. Ford, who founded and ran Ford Models with his wife Eileen Ford, discovered Eva Andersson while she was walking down the street in New York City. Jerry Ford took Eva Andersson to meet Eileen Ford and Andersson became a Ford Model.[1] In the 1970s, Eileen Ford the American model agency executive and co-founder of Ford Models described Eva Andersson-Dubin's legs on her modeling card as: "excellent".[1] Later, Eva Andersson was entered into the Miss Sweden contest without her knowledge, and won Miss Sweden 1980.[3]

Kelly Olivia Gale[2] (born 14 May 1995) is a Swedish model of Indian and Australian descent.[3] Gale is known globally for her work for Victoria's Secret, the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, and Playboy, as well as being featured in the music video of "Duele el Corazón" by Enrique Iglesias.

At age 13, she was discovered by a model agent outside a coffee shop in Gothenburg.[12] Initially, Gale's parents were opposed to her working as a model but she eventually started modeling one year later.[13] One of her first modelling jobs was for H&M.[14]

The teenage fertility rate fell precipitately in Sweden after 1966 and is now one of the lowest in Europe. This decline can be seen in the context of major reforms enacted in 1975 whereby the school sex-education curriculum was revised, contraceptive services were improved, and abortion was provided free and on demand. By means of microsimulation, the possible roles of contraception and induced abortion in causing teenage fertility to fall are examined. Before 1975, the decline appears to have been caused primarily by an increase in the number of induced abortions. After that date, however, an increase in the use of highly efficient methods of contraception led to a decline in the pregnancy rate in such a way that, even though the proportion of teenagers who sought abortion increased, the abortion rate declined. Parallels are drawn with the experience of other European countries, and contrasts with that of the United States, where no such developments have occurred, are noted.

PIP: This study examines the role of contraception and induced abortion in causing teenage fertility to fall in Sweden. The data used were drawn from the 1992 Swedish Family Survey, which sought event-history data from more than 3000 women born variously in 1949, 1954, 1956, 1964, and 1969. From these studies, it was found out that in the middle of 1970s, three interrelated changes occurred. First, the school sex education curriculum was revised in 1975; it no longer recommended abstinence among the youth, nor did it emphasize that sexual activity should take place only within marriage. Second, the abortion law was revised in 1975 to allow abortion on demand without charge. The pervasive fear was that relaxation of the law would lead to abortion's being used as a substitute for contraception. Third, the revision of the school sex-education curriculum, therefore, was accompanied by explicit contraceptive education, and special youth clinics were instituted to provide free contraceptives to young people. Due to the major reforms enacted in 1975, pregnancy rate declined primarily by an increase in the number of induced abortion. But after 1975, the decline was due to increased use of highly efficient contraceptive methods, which also caused the decline in the abortion rate.

Change has been slow: In November,Teen Vogue cast Fernanda Ly, its first Asian cover star in the magazine's history. Vogue Italia featured its first Asian model on a cover in 2013, while Vogue has reportedly never featured a Chinese model on its cover.

Seeing Asian women as romantic heroines, like seeing Asian models as our utmost paragons of beauty, is a goal that still seems a ways away while Western beauty ideals reign supreme.
